On the fourth Thursday of every month, parish members from Saint Dennis host the Community Meal Program at 310 Ingersoll in Madison. We provide a meal of meat loaf, baked potatoes, bread and butter, corn, salad and dressing, and desserts. All the people involved donate food and some also donate their time. Usually, we gather at 5:00 p.m. and finish up near 7:00 p.m. The actual meal lasts 45 minutes. The number of community members who partake of this meal varies, but can be up to 150. It is always rewarding. Luke House is about sharing a meal with the community. It is about displaying hospitality. It is often described as extending our own tables. It is like having many friends and neighbors over for a dinner. The number of people who rely on this demonstrates why so many people must be involved for this to be successful. There is always a turnover of parish members due to many factors, and therefore, we are always looking for new members to donate food and/or time.
